The 2026 University of Kansas Prairie Winds Festival

February 6 - 7, 2026

The University of Kansas Bands invite high school student-musicians to participate in the 24th annual Prairie Winds Festival! Sessions will include clinics with KU faculty, a performance in the Lied Center, performances by the KU Wind EnsembleJazz Ensemble I, Crossroads Wind Symphony and a clinic with percussionist Jason Treuting.

Commuter Only 

The Prairie Winds Festival is commuter only. Students must be dropped off on the morning of the 6th at Murphy Hall on KU's campus and the morning of the 7th at the Lied Center of Kansas.

Meals

Students are responsible for Friday's lunch at the DeBruce Center. Friday's dinner as well as lunch and dinner on Saturday are provided.

Festival Fee

The Festival fee is $50. This includes a t-shirt, 3 meals, clinics with faculty and guest artists and two concerts.

Are you a high school senior interested in auditioning for entrance to the KU School of Music as a music major or minor? If so, you may audition during the Prairie Winds Festival.These auditions take place Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Lied Center.

Students who select "yes" should expect an email from the School of Music to complete your audition registration process.
