Because the requirements of the Jack Dicus Business Honors Program include an academic excellence requirement and an experiential learning requirement, the selection committee evaluates student applications using the following criteria:

• 33% Academic record including overall KU GPA and evidence of rigor of courses taken at KU.
• 67% Record of current and past extracurricular activities and past leadership activities, planned future leadership impact, and involvement in experiential learning opportunities

In evaluating the application, the quality, clarity, responsiveness and precision of the narrative are considered. In other words, how well did you tell your story in the application? How well have you paid attention to detail in completing your application?

Applicants to the BHP will provide a one page, single spaced cover letter addressed to the BHP Selection Committee and a one page, professional resume.

• A statement of why the student wishes to be admitted to the BHP.
• A sentence that identifies the most intellectually challenging course or courses taken outside of the School of Business and explains why it was intellectually challenging.
• A summary of current involvement and leadership including internship and work experience and of future involvement and leadership goals. In other words, how have you already made a positive impact in and out of the classroom and how are you going to make a similar positive impact going forward.
