Emerging Leader Award Application
In an effort to recognize the contributions of the young alumni of the KU School of Business, the School and KU Endowment Association have partnered to create the Emerging Leader Award. This award, given annually at the Distinguished Alumni Dinner, will highlight the success of alumni ages 22 through 40 that have excelled in their careers and made lasting impacts on the University of Kansas. - April 20 – Combined Board Meeting (winners MUST attend)
Selection Process
The Emerging Leader Award selection committee will solicit applications for the award. More than one award may be given, but no more than three awards may be given in a single year; generally, the committee will aim to award two individuals. The deadline for applications will be March 9.
Applications should include evidence of the applicant's ties to the KU School of Business, the University of Kansas, and/or the State of Kansas. Further, applications should detail the impact the applicant has had in their profession and may include up to 3 supporting letters, which must be submitted with the application. Petitions and letter writing campaigns (beyond those letters included with the application) are discouraged and will not be considered in the evaluation process nor will they influence the selection committee.
Selection Criteria
- The applicant must be a graduate of the KU School of Business.
- The applicant must be between the ages of 22 and 40 on April 19, 2018.
- The applicant must have shown outstanding promise for continuing service in his or her community, to the University of Kansas and/or KU School of Business and leadership in their chosen profession. Specific examples of continuing activities/future goals must be provided.
- The applicant must not have previously received an Emerging Leader Award.

Applications must be submitted no later than March 9.
The Emerging Leader Award selection committee will review the nominations and make a final decision on who will receive the awards. Each nominee shall be considered individually and confidentially and will be judged according to the criteria listed above. The award will be presented annually, but there is no requirement that the award be given each year.
Award Presentation
The awards will be presented during the Distinguished Alumni Dinner on April 19, 2018. The recipients will receive an award and recognition in a KU School of Business publication. In addition, the award winners will:

be named to the Dean’s Board of Advisors for a 3-year term with no dues requirements but suggested. At the end of the 3-year term, the award winner can be nominated to a full-member role;

be assigned a mentor from the Board of Advisors to work with them during their 3-year term;

assist in the promotion, marketing and identification of future candidates;

present the award to the winner in the following year.
