Undergrad Admissions Decision Appeal

Applies to: Undergraduate students denied admission to the University of Kansas

Purpose: This form allows students to submit information requesting a committee review of their individual extenuating circumstances surrounding their prior academic performance.

Below are the deadlines for complete appeals:

The deadline for Fall 2025 has passed.

Appeals for Spring 2026: January 7, 2026

Appeals for Summer 2026: May 18, 2026

Appeals for Fall 2026: August 10, 2026

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Undergraduate admission decisions are re-reviewed if there were extenuating circumstances surrounding your previous academics.
Completing the appeals process does not guarantee that you will be granted admission to the University of Kansas.
Only completed appeals will be considered.
The appeal committee will be reviewing appeal requests monthly. Complete appeals will be reviewed at the next committee meeting and notification of a decision will happen within 3 business days of the committee meeting.
Appeal information must be completed by the student requesting the appeal.

Letter of Appeal

Your letter of appeal should explain low grades, test scores, etc., and tell why you feel the appeals committee should make an exception for you. It should also explain why you will be successful at KU and provide any information regarding any special/extenuating circumstances you feel impacted your prior academic performance. Letter of Recommendation

Provide a letter of recommendation from someone who can address your academic abilities. This is usually a teacher or academic advisor. If your letter needs to be sent separately, please have your recommender email a PDF copy of their letter (on official letterhead) to processing@ku.edu. Your appeal will not be reviewed until a letter of recommendation is received. ATTACHMENT MUST BE IN PDF FORMAT
